Wave Windows

Wave windows enabling pilots to fly in category B airspace are available in certain parts of the country.

Details of the location of these windows are available on the AIS web site (login required) as follows:

South of 5520N - AIP Ref ENR-6-3-0-3
North of 5520N - AIP Ref ENR-6-3-0-4

Updated procedures for operating in these areas are available in the UK AIP. This is available on the AIS web site. Once you have opened the document (ENR 1.1.1 ATS Routes and Uppeer Control Areas (UTA)), the procedures can be found at section 4.3.3

Memoranda of Understanding

In addition to the above, local agreements governing access to areas of controlled air space are in force.

Welsh gliding areas above FL245 (effective 16 March 2006) updated 9 March 2006
RILES gliding areas up to FL195
