14th Birthday Solo

Ruari Tait from Highland Gliding Club went solo yesterday on his 14th birthday – the earliest that it is legally possible and the first time that this feat has been achieved in Scotland. Ruari is the third of 3 Tait brothers to go solo and completes a family record spanning three generations – grandmother and grandfather, father and mother.  Ruari’s father, Robert, flew the tow aircraft and grandfather Jim attached the glider to the aircraft and was there to greet Ruari on his successful landing.

Watch the video of the flight.
