3. Important Information
On application, in addition to confirming the site’s suitability, the BGA requires the club Chairman to confirm that the following detail will be in place prior to and during periods of NPPL SLMG flight training at the site;
 Appropriate authorization arrangements are in place. Guidance - BGA SLMG Handbook
 Suitable training resources are accessible. Guidance – good practice and the NPPL SLMG syllabus
 Landing & take off areas are appropriate for the aircraft used and the surrounding areas do not rely on exceptional flying ability in order to avoid incidents. Guidance – good practice and flight manuals
 Appropriate standard operating procedures are available for operating alongside other airfield users, including winch launching
 Appropriate standard operating procedures are available for dealing with and reporting incidents and accidents
 Appropriate arrangements are in place for daily maintenance & fuel and lubricant handling. Guidance: SLMG maintenance schedule and Health and Safety recommendations
 Appropriate arrangements are in place for pre flight preparations, including access to NOTAM and weather information
Please note that a code of practice including all of the above is currently being drafted between air sports and the CAA. BGA clubs will be advised of any future changes in BGA requirements.
