ROLE DESCRIPTION 1. Title  Senior Regional Examiner 2. Purpose of role  Gliding instructor coaching and examining  Administering Regional team of examiners  Member of the Instructors Sub Committee 3. Main activities/tasks  Leading instructor coaching courses  Conducting rating tests  Leading completion courses  Renewing and revalidating instructor ratings  Conducting club visits  Co-ordinating instructor training and testing within the region  Overseeing training of new examiners within the region  Certain decision making responsibilities for rating renewal  Run Regional CFI and examiner meetings  Member of the BGA Instructors Subcommittee 4. Qualities/experience/skills  A personal interest in and commitment to enhancing safety in gliding  A personal interest in and commitment to enhancing instructing standards in gliding  A personal interest in developing training to enhance enjoyment within the British Gliding scene  A depth of general gliding experience and knowledge sufficient to gain the respect of club CFI’s and other examiners  Trustworthy  A highly experienced instructor  Previously a Regional Examiner  Organised  Good interpersonal skills 5. Training provided  Normal BGA training up to the point of Fully Rated instructor  ‘On the job training’ to the satisfaction of the Chairman of the instructors committee 6.
