British Gliding Association Aircraft Inspection Mandatory Number: 030/05/2002 Date: 24th may 2002 Issue: 1 Subject: Aerotow hang up Applicability: Schempp-Hirth Ventus CT with Pitot tube mounted in nose Accomplishment: On receipt, and before using nose aerotow hook Reason: On aerotow the Tost large ring became jammed vertically under the Pitot tube fairing glasswork and the lower edge of the nose aperture. Possibly due to excessive glass or gel on the underside of the Pitot tube fairing Instructions: Using a good condition Tost ring set, locate the small ring in the nose hook and position the large ring vertically in the aperture. By manipulating the ring establish if it is possible to jam the large ring under the Pitot tube and the lower edge of the hole. If it is possible to jam the ring the glass pitot tube fairing should be filed to prevent this situation.
