Aircraft Inspection Mandatory Number: 051/05/2011 Date: Issue: 1 Subject: Tail Plane Elevator hinge - corrosion inspection. Applicability: SZD 51-1 Junior. Accomplishment: Within next 20 flight hours and repeat at each annual inspection. Reason: One aircraft found with extensive exfoliation corrosion of an elevator hinge. Instructions: Inspect upper and lower surfaces of tail plane in area of elevator hinges and rear spar of tail plane for local swelling or distortion of composite skins or any signs of delamination. Inspect elevator hinge for signs of corrosion. Any discrepancies or corrosion found require further investigation. Please report any findings to CTO immediately.
