The hard nylon sleeve had long since deteriorated. This highlights the importance of ‘slipping’ the cables to inspect for wear in the cable and guide tube or fairlead and that if anti wear inserts are fitted by the manufacturer they must be replaced if worn or damaged 1.5 PZL/SZD 9-bis Bocian series (Mandatory) A review of all service bulletins has been carried out with compliance details and BGA concessions on some of the life limit requirements. Reference should be made to the relevant official publications. b) As established last year, the BGA Compendium of Airworthiness Directives will not be sent out in paper format to inspectors. If a paper copy is really needed, remembering it won’t be updated from the start of the year, please contact the office. c) It is recommended that you download a copy of the relevant Compendium sections, for the particular aircraft type when doing the C of A, from the BGA web site. The web site version will include all updates from the TNS and you will only have to refer to the latest TNS to ensure that the update is included. d) The format of the Compendium will gradually be changing to separate the Mandatory requirements and “in service reports (advisory)” as some of the sections are getting very long. See the PZL/SZD Bocian for an example.
