Overview BGA Full Rated instructors may assess pilots for the issue of Bronze endorsement and Cross Country endorsement qualification. The BGA authorises examiners, all of who are very experienced glider pilots and gliding instructors. There are two categories of BGA Examiner – BGA Flight Examiner and BGA Flight Instructor Examiner. BGA Flight Examiners test pilots, and BGA Flight Instructor Examiners test instructors and other examiners. EASA Part-FCL (FCL) Sailplane Examiner authorisations are issued by the CAA. FCL examiners operate on behalf of the CAA as the licensing authority. Depending on the specific examiner authorisation they hold, FCL examiners may test pilots, instructors and/or examiners for FCL qualification. The BGA is facilitating the transition of BGA qualified examiners to FCL qualified examiners. For transition guidance, refer to the ‘Pilot Licence Conversion’ detail on the BGA website.
