Governance Conference 2008 - 8th March 2008 at Hellidon Lakes Hotel Nr Daventry

The BGA Club Governance conference has two key elements; the Chairmans conference running from 9 am until mid to late afternoon, and three additional forums - for club treasurers, club CFI's (or their deputies) and club marketing people - that will target specific areas of club management, organisational advice and shared good practice. The BGA will of course be in 'receive' mode as well as offering lots of good practice advice, so please feel free to turn up armed with questions.

To help us with numbers (the room sizes are the limiting factor) and catering, attendees must book into whichever element of the Governance conference is most relevent to their needs. To book, please download the booking form here. This should be returned to the office with payment.

Disability Discrimination Act (from Sport England website)

From 1 st October, sports clubs may need to make "reasonable adjustments" in relation to the physical features of their premises to overcome physical barriers to access. Many clubs are either not aware of these changes or do not believe that they are relevant to them. For most sports clubs there will be implications and for many they will be very significant, requiring plans to be put in place to ensure adequate access is provided for disabled users and members in the future

Health & Safety Guidance Notes (UK Sport document)

This document discusses the legal responsibilities of ... clubs & societies for the safety of participants and all other people that may be affected by their activities. In particular, it highlights the requirement under UK health and safety legislation for risk assessments to be undertaken for all sports activities and events before they take place.
