World Gold for Tom
Tom Arscottt has won the gold medal with Sam Roddie taking the bronze in the Club Class at the World Junior Gliding Championships which finished today at Narromine in New South Wales. Matt Davis and Mike Gatfield finished 10th and 13th respectively in the Standard Class.
Going into the final Club Class race, Tom was lying second and Sam 7th, with German Phillipp Schultz in the lead. However, withwhat team captain Andy Davis described as a “a truly inspiring and gutsy performance in the final race, an audacious game plan brilliantly executed and great tactical awareness”, the British pair slipped away from the German team in the 3 hour ATT. Their second and third places in the race were enough to secure gold and bronze, with Schultz finishing in the silver medal spot.
